New Century Software was founded by Ron Brush in May 1994. In the mid-90s, pipeline CAD and GIS work was mostly done on Unix workstations like Sun Microsystems, which were not only very complicated, but very expensive. These workstations also couldn’t run Microsoft Windows like personal computers, which was clearly the direction that technology was trending.
