In the next few years, Esri will begin the process of retiring ArcMap. This includes ending general availability, transitioning to bug-fixes only, and then moving into mature support. Because of this, we created SheetCutter Server Pro to work with Esri’s new GIS application replacement, ArcGIS Pro.
Even though ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro are both GIS applications, their architecture and user interface are very different.
This is our final blog in the series dedicated to highlighting the differences between SheetCutter Server 9.2.x and SheetCutter Server Pro (SCServer Pro). Check out “What’s New in SheetCutter Server Pro: Spatial Detection, More Flexibility” if you missed it!
- SheetCutter Server Pro allows for more granular control over which source tables are checked for changes and when to get new sheets.
- The new web interface gives you more control over your resulting sheets:
- You can now monitor the status of SCServer Pro, identify warnings or errors in the data to help you make corrections, and gain visibility into which sheets are being generated and what kind of data is changing most to initiate sheets.
- From the interface, you can configure tables if some need to be checked more frequently, and if others appear on the same sheet need to be checked less frequently.
- The new web interface gives you more control over your resulting sheets:
- From the web interface, you can subscribe to certain templates and get email notifications when new sheets using that template are generated.
- For example: operation templates, annual report templates, or if you want to be notified whenever data changes that impact the maximum allowable operating pressure (MAOP) of a line; you can subscribe to that template that listens to the pertinent data impacting MAOP.
- SCServer Pro will use a cloud database to do the data differencing and initiating ongoing data snapshots and alignment sheet generation tasks based on the differences detected and stored in the cloud. This will be visible and configurable through the web interface.
We’re looking forward to transitioning with you from SheetCutter Server to SheetCutter Server Pro. Contact us with any questions you might have!
