This month, we are celebrating our 25th anniversary!
We are so grateful for the opportunity to provide best-in-class software and services to ensure safety and reliability in the oil and gas industry over the past quarter of a century. We look forward to many more years to come. Let’s take a look back at some highlights and fun snapshots over the last 25 years!
New Century Software was founded by Ron Brush in May 1994. In the mid-90s, pipeline CAD and GIS work was mostly done on Unix workstations like Sun Microsystems, which were not only very complicated, but very expensive. These workstations also couldn’t run Microsoft Windows like personal computers, which was clearly the direction that technology was trending.
Ron saw an opportunity to get ahead of the curve by being an early partner and adopter of Esri GIS technology, which was lower-cost, easier to use, and forward-looking with its support of PCs. Within the first year, we began development on our cornerstone application, Facility Manager, as well as a data model that would lead to our co-founding of the PODS Association in 1998.
Responding to new pipeline integrity regulations, our software suite grew to include the best-selling alignment sheet program, SheetCutter, as well as our industry-leading integrity analysis apps: Spatial Risk Analyst, Spill Impact Analyst, Gas HCA Analyst and Alignment Manager. We later expanded our expertise into offshore solutions. In 2010, under contract with Michael Baker, we were selected by PHMSA to implement the GIS for the National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS).
In 2015, we expanded to Houston, TX, in concurrence with the launch of our Integrity Plus division, which was formed to focus on our data management and pipeline integrity management services. Integrity Plus has since grown to staff many subject matter experts and pave the way for a new chapter in New Century history.
As the industry and technology trends continue to change and evolve, our focus remains on staying ahead of the curve and providing the best holistic solutions for the full pipeline integrity management lifecycle. We create a digital twin of the pipeline system to help operators turn their asset and inspection data into useful information that allows them to extend the life of their pipe and keep our communities safe.
