Pipeline Risk Assessment

Risk algorithm consulting - Developing a risk algorithm unique to an organization’s pipeline infrastructure is a challenging process. The designer must identify all of the threats and consequences associated with the system and categorize them in a way that results in a meaningful risk score for any given location along the pipeline. New Century Software works with both outside consultants and our own in-house risk analysts to assist operators with the design and implementation of an effective GIS-based risk algorithm. Our Spatial Risk Analyst software serves as an excellent tool for streamlining the design, testing, and implementation of complex pipeline risk analysis algorithms.

Pipeline risk assessment – Operators must use risk assessment to prioritize covered segments and evaluate the merits of additional preventative and mitigative measures. The assessment must integrate all available information about the integrity of the entire pipeline and the consequences of a failure. Using New Century’s pipeline risk assessment software, an experienced team of professionals will input your company’s existing risk model, quantify threats and consequences along the pipeline, integrate GIS and other data, and produce risk analysis results. The operator is provided with results in the form of charts, tables, and/or risk alignment sheets.

Facility risk assessment – Regulators are increasing their enforcement of facility risk assessment requirements in 49 CFR Part 195.452 to covered facilities and have cited operators based upon their Integrity Management Plan not containing a risk analysis that specifically addresses facilities and their unique attributes. Using our Spatial Risk Analyst application, our experienced team of professionals can help you perform facility risk assessments.

New Century Software has partnered with Kent Muhlbauer of WKM Consultancy on a number of projects involving pipeline risk algorithm design and execution.
