GPS DataLoader
One challenge to producing and maintaining a full-featured GIS, especially linking legacy pipeline asset data, is integrating GPS location information with the asset while still maintaining accurate stationing. New Century Software’s GPS DataLoader application simplifies the process of migrating information from the collection device to an existing PODS database.
The GPS DataLoader application is an ArcMAP extension used to import, assign stations to, and load converted GPS data into a PODS compliant database. The intuitive workflow and familiar interface offer an easier way to spatialize a PODS database.
GPS DataLoader has three core functionalities: importing and converting tabular GPS data to a spatial feature class, assigning pipeline stationing to the GPS data, and uploading the data to the destination PODS database. Assigning pipeline stationing gives centerline station locations to those GPS features which may or may not intersect the centerline. The original GPS Latitude/Longitude data and metadata are preserved by GPS DataLoader.
